The Mandrake sits on Newman Street in Fitzrovia, a multi-award-winning lifestyle property with 33 bedrooms, three suites and an award-winning Penthouse. Conde Nast Traveller called it quite phantasmagorical, an out-of-London experience. The restaurant, YOPO Zaytoun, cooks Eastern Mediterranean food built on shared plates: seabream with fennel and sumac, coal-roasted cabbage, chermoula poussin.
Waeska and Jurema Terrace serve ethnobotanical cocktails, the terrace set under a hanging garden of jasmine and passionflower and 150-year-old Tasmanian ferns overlooking the Courtyard. Live jazz plays Thursday evenings, with DJ sets Friday and Saturday; past nights have featured Carl Cox and Barns Courtney among the artists on the bill. DAMU Spa opened this year with an Origin Pool and mud caves.
